Friends - July 2006

My best friend for 18 years just broke up with her boyfriend who I have also became friends with in the 5 years they were together. I want to be there for my best friend but at the same time I want to be there for him too. He is not the kind of person that will just get over it and move on. We were the only freinds he had really. I don't want to give that friendship up because I worry about him. What do I do? I care about both of them.

There is this guy I know who is about 10 years older than me (I'm 29). He is trying to get his life together and not party and drink etc. as much as he used to. For the past 2 weeks he has been doing a great job and doing more positive things for himself. He says that he always wants me in his life and how I am a big help for him to continue to go on the right track which he has been doing. I am very happy for him but I feel like he is making me feel like I HAVE to be in his life to help him do right or else he might go back and do the things he used to. Am I wrong for feeling like I don't want to be responsible for this grown man's behavior.

We've always been really close, but suddenly they've started excluding me and ignoring me. They're accusing me of talking about them behind their back but they know I would never do that. I've tried talking to them but every time they just walk away. Now, they're whispering behind my back and everytime I try to talk to them about it they just say, "learn to trust us- we wouldn't do that". My 14 yr old keeps getting onto porn sites. Many of my friends have moved away in the last 3 years and I have noticed that I have no one to really have 'girl time' with. I work for my parents small company, and there is no interaction with anyone my own age. My husband's friends are all guys who are single, and I am wits end on how to meet some new people. I am not trying to sound pathetic here, but it would be nice to get out once in a while.... thank you!

due to personal family problems i was left the responsability of telling my mother that my nan has passed away, not an easy choice to make but i decided not to tell her but to tell her when the time is right on saying that its only a matter of time before i lose my gramps who is suffering with cancer. the reason why i havent yet told her is due to her habit with alochol and she would use it as an excuse and i couldnt handle it. iam also trying to help her over come her habit and in telling her about her mother would only make her have a relaps

I have a friend who drinks at least 2 bottles of rum every week, sometimes 3 or 4. He also drinks about 4 can of beers per week, sometimes more like 8.
Im at his house right now cause im visiting him for vacations but it hurt me to see him like that and when he is drunk he starts to act really silly, he told me that he used to drink 1 bottle of rum every day but know he drinks less, still im worry about him.

How can i let him know that he should drink even less or not at all, i know he has some personal issues but thats not the way to solve them.

By the way, when he is sleeping i empty the rum bottle, or at least i throw away a little and he even doesnt notice that. Please help me.
