My best friend for 18 years just broke up with her boyfriend who I have also became friends with in the 5 years they were together. I want to be there for my best friend but at the same time I want to be there for him too. He is not the kind of person that will just get over it and move on. We were the only freinds he had really. I don't want to give that friendship up because I worry about him. What do I do? I care about both of them.

well, just because your best friend broke up with her boyfriend (which is your friend also) that does not mean you cant be friends with BOTH of them. you can still be there to care for them and give them support. their breaking up should not have any effect on your friendship with either one of them. in fact, all 3 of you might be the best of friends in the future. if that happens it would be GREAT.

That's tough. I would definitely make sure you're there for your best friend first and foremost. Let her know that you still are planning on being friends with her ex, just so she doesn't find out and feel hurt that you still talk to him. You can also be there for him when you're not with your best friend.
If it was a messy breakup things might be a little harder than that, but I hope this helps some.

If you want to be there for him, no problem. But if what you really mean is you want to be WITH him, you need to evaluate how much your 18 yrs of friendship is worth.

yeah you do and explain that to both of them. you can't be chosing sides just cuz they broke up. all three of you are connected some how and now you want to continue that and there's nothing wrong with that. if one of them has a problem with it, it's their lost not urs.
