SO sceptics and deniers, you don't believe in that man made global warming stuff huh?
Well then, what are your views on the origins of the universe and that evolution thing?

is there a website where you can pay for the removal of CO2 to stop global warming? I don't mean places like Care2 and ecologyfund where you click to donate, but places where you actually pay for a ton or by pounds or whatevev
OR
a machine that is low cost and removes CO2 from the air in your home or something

Some people have argued that the Midieval Warm Period (which was almost as warm as today) was a prosperous time for people and the planet. However, according to scientists from UMass, U of Arizona, and NOAA:

"There is evidence for widespread hydrological anomalies from 900 to 1300 A.D. Prolonged droughts affected many parts of the western United States (especially eastern California and the western Great Basin) (14). Other parts of the world also experienced persistent hydrological anomalies (15)."

"A repetition of such anomalies today, with more than 10 times as many people on Earth as in High Medieval time, could be catastrophic."

Does this make you rethink the supposition that warm periods are beneficial and in all cases "warmer is better"?

At yesterday’s Deals & Deal Makers Conference in New York, Glenn Hubbard, the Columbia Business School Dean and former Bush administration economic adviser, argued in favor of a carbon tax.

http://blogs.wsj.com/energy/2007/06/28/hubbard-argues-for-a-carbon-tax/

Hubbard supports either a carbon tax or a carbon cap and trade system in which the carbon credits are auctioned off. He does not support a cap and trade system in which the credits are given away, because then the government isn't getting any funds from the process.

Hubbard basically feels that the government can redistribute funds from a carbon tax to reduce other taxes and have no net tax increase.

This is no liberal. This is a former Bush economic advisor who was instrumental in Bush's 2003 tax cuts

What do you think about this conservative economist pushing for a carbon tax?

The willingness of people to bet money on something has been proven to be an excellent sign of what is truth. The collective wisdom of people is pretty good.

http://www.chrisfmasse.com/3/3/markets/

World leaders and corporate leaders HAVE to risk serious money on which side is correct. Overwhelmingly they've chosen to back the mainstream.

There's a small chance (even they say they're only 99% sure) that the mainstream is wrong. But very few intelligent people would risk their money on that.

Even skeptics won't bet against the mainstream. Mainstream scientists have offered bets, and have had a very hard time getting any skeptic to take them.

You don't have to bet money on this directly. But, in a democracy, your political support is effectively doing that. And your economic well being (not your life) is at stake.

A few years ago the problem was holes in the ozone layer caused by freon.

The ozone layer protects us from ultraviolet rays.

Does a hole in the ozone layer allow HEAT to radiate back to space?

Are there plants which THRIVE on ultraviolet, possibly algae, thereby consuming CO2?

Do ozone holes occur over deserts, over the Arctic regions, over cities? Or do they float around like ocean currents?

Surveys have shown that not only do the vast majority of liberals believe the man-made global warming theory is correct, but so do the majority of conservatives.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArHYFVZz0P6LZIlrDK6XzQ3ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071212132810AAfr6Hk

However, most who are skeptical of or deny the theory are politically conservative.

Why do you think acceptance of the theory breaks down this way politically? Do you think most conservatives/liberals are forming opinions on this issue based on science or politics?

In "Reply to Lockwood and Fröhlich" regarding the paper which concluded the Sun is not responsible for the global warming over the past 30 years, Svensmark and Friis-Christensen claim:

"global surface temperatures have been roughly flat since 1998."

Paper downloadable here:

discussed on RealClimate here:

Svensmark and Friis-Christensen are the main proponents of the galactic cosmic ray warming theory.

In a previous question I asked skeptics if they think the man-made global warming theory isn't the most likely explanation for the current warming, what is?

They answered "you used Wikipedia I hate liberals blah blah blah". None have yet provided a plausible alternative theory.

We know it's not the Earth's natural cycles, because we're in a stable and cooling cycle right now.

Scientists say…It’s primarily caused by a rapid increase in man made greenhouse gases and the reduction of the earth ability to compensate for the increase of those gases.

Sceptic and Deniers say…It’s not happening. I don’t believe that it’s happening. It’s the volcanoes. It’s the sun. It’s not my fault. It’s the moon. It’s a commie plot. Uranus is getting hot (and sweaty). Al Gore is a democrat. We’re still just coming out of the last ice age. It’s the hole in the ozone. It’s natural. Cows did it. It’s what “they” want you to believe. Just look at the hockey stick graph. It warmed before it’ll warm again. Senator so-and-so has a list. I saw this show called Swindle or something. Liberals want to take away my SUV. Scientist invented it to get more funding. I saw a picture of a temperature sensor somewhere. Rush said so. Bill O’Reilly said so. What’s so wrong with warm? Man is too insignificant to affect the climate.

Now who is undecided?

The only other proposed alternatives are "natural cycles", the Sun, and galactic cosmic rays.

We know it's not the Earth's natural cycles, because scientists are well-aware of these, and we're in a cooling cycle right now.

Traditional earthquakes are mainly due to plate tektonics or volcanic processes. Generally that's all happening too deep to be affected by small changes in temperature and any minor thermal expansion on the earth's surface.

However, tremors up to magnitude 5.0 on the Richter scale can be caused by movement of glaciers, and those quakes are increasing in frequency:

http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn8889-glacial-earthquakes-rock-greenland-ice-sheet.html

Ekström reports that quakes ranged from six to 15 per year from 1993 to 2002, then jumped to 20 in 2003, 23 in 2004, and 32 in the first 10 months of 2005 – matching an increase in Greenland temperatures.

Well, the question may be somehow gross, but what I mean is, there are a series of studies in which its said climate change will bring more harmed nations to start wars with those having more natural resources(water, food, wood, so on), there is also a growing concept of «climate migrants», referring to mass migrations from the poorest nations to those capable of sustaining its people.
So, tell me, what do you think Climate change as you imagine, will bring to Mankind, animals, plants, the world...?

Let’s play a game shall we? Let say for a moment that you get a new job in a different city. In this city you find high rent prices but no vacancies. You are forced to buy a brand new condo that you can barely afford and are one of the first to move in. Everything is fine for a while until you find out that 51% of the other condos were purchased by one family who wanted to be together. You also find out they are a bunch of slobs. They are strident, they throw garbage around and relieve themselves on the hall carpets. The smell from their cooking is enough to gag a maggot. What do you do about these people? They control the majority and your property rights values state that one person can't control another person in the way they live or what they do with their own property. By suing them or calling the health department you are going against your values by forcing another person to live by your rules. If you do nothing your condo will be worthless and impossible to live in. What would you do?

Are people that deny global warming really convinced it is not a problem? Are you just scared to change your current way of living? Or do you just not understand how CO2 works as a greenhouse gas?

All the arguments against global warming happening I have heard are pretty weak. None of them can deny the fact that high levels of CO2 in the atmosphere increase temperatures at the surface, just look at the atmosphere of Venus.

Of course CO2 levels can rise naturally, but why continue to compound the problem?

I recieved an answer from someone who said...

"I recommend that you stop the name calliing with terms such as "deniers" or people are going to start calling you names."

Well that is interesting. What is wrong with calling deniers, "deniers"? Do they not deny anthropological global warming or just global warming? They deny it, so they must be deniers, no? It's simply the honest truth so what is wrong with it?
Of course AGW is the truth too and they don't like that either. Is there pattern here?

I see a lot of people answering with words like "man isn't responsible for climate change because I don't think it is". Is your climate denial based on a feeling that you have or based on a scientific study? If it's based on a scientific study please provide the source of your information so that we may all read it. What journal does it appear in title, date, issue, volume, etc..
