Here it is, the final match, one that a lot of people would call back in the 80's and 90's

Rolling Stones (1960s- early 1970s) vs. Guns 'N Roses (1980s-early 1990s)

I like most pop music, not a lot of country, rap or hiphop. I want to make some mixed CDs for my trip but need some ideas for songs titles.
Thanks!

I'm interested in song titles that are so obvious, it's funny.

For instance, I'm listening to a song from Hi-Standard called "Teenagers Are All A**holes." I couldn't help but laugh.
Another good example is "I Like Food" by The Descendents (I Like Food, Food Is Good, etc)

Anyway, in keeping with the seanon: Happy Holidays Everyone!
And Happy Humbug Day!

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but name a band and a song you always thought would be a good cover for them.

For some reason, I always thought it'd be interesting to hear AFI do "Epic" by Faith No More. I'd also like to see Godsmack cover "Would" by Alice In Chains. I'd also like to see Audioslave cover some Led Zeppelin tunes like "Heartbreaker" or "Rock & Roll."

Choose one R&P regular and post links to two songs that you think they'd really like and don't already know about.

As 2007 comes to a close, it's time once again to compile the R&P Yearbook. As your trusty Editor-In-Chief, I need your votes for the class of '07!

Most Likely to Succeed
Most Changed
Least Changed
Best Dressed
Class Clown
Biggest Spaz
Teachers Pet
Most Likely to Start a Revolution
Worst Driver

And, just for fun….

Most likely to get sucked into a pyramid scam
Most likely to live with their parents in 10 years
Most likely to date a high school student in 10 years.
Most likely to be mentioned in the liner notes of a Clay Aiken album

As the holidays get closer and closer, we'll all, no doubt, keep crazy schedules. So to all my R&P friends, if I don't see you here before, I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season, and a joyous and happy new year! (((Hugs))) to you all!!

Often during a musical artists career, they undergo some sort of transformation that changes not only themselves, but the music that they make.

For example, the Beatles of 'Revolver' and 'A Hard Day's Night' were NOT the Beatles of the White Album or 'Sgt. Pepper'.

Another example might be the Toxic Twins incarnation of Aerosmith, versus the MTV nuthugging version of the band. Blues-infused hard rock that was airtight, versus a band that recorded songs tailor-made for FM airplay.

Others?

Happy Friday and Happy Holidays, R&P! And I haven't seen her around in a while, but Happy Birthday, BuzzKill! :)

My question is based on this question that gorge busch asked:

Sometimes musicians are their own biggest enemy, and we discuss them here on almost a daily basis. The modern examples (i.e. Britney) are more commonly discussed, but they are hardly the first - since musicians have been around, they have been getting into trouble...with the law, their spouses, the fans, etc. And in quite a few cases it has impacted their popularity of their music and damaged their relationship with those who support them.

So here is (hopefully) the more positive side of all of this. What musician do you think has made the greatest comeback musicially after failing the fans in their personal lives? And it is truly possible for the fans to forgive and forget?

Let me state up front : I am and was a huge fan of the MTV 'Unplugged' series, and acoustic music in general. I thought it was both entertaining and intriguing to see various artists interpret their material (or in some cases, the material of others) in such a raw and unfiltered manner.

I've read numerous times on R&P, as well as other places, that people detest these vehicles. I've even seen the word 'abomination' used. I'm not here to bash, I'm simply curious why so many people dislike the acoustic format.

30-40 yrs ago, the best bands were the jimi hendrix experience, cream, the who, led zeppelin and a bunch of bands who actually had talent. nowadays there aren't rock bands who know how to improvise or even play difficult music. nowadays we have crap like the white stripes and emo bands like flyleaf who don't even know to play anything.
