Bands you hated growing up, or even bands you hated more recently, for example bands who were widely hated in the late 1990's/early 2000's such as Creed, Slipknot and Limp Bizkit do you find yourself not hating them as much anymore because of the crop of much worse bands who are around today?

One of my favorite front men of all time, not many can even hold a candle to Joe's stage presence and energy. You could hear as well as see that his heart was in his music, up all the way through his last performance, face showing genuine emotion, vocals rough, gritty, and energetic, knee jerking to the beat, no performer really sold the performance like Joe and the world was a better place to have him. And even though no one tries to say he was perfect, we all know he had his faults but so does everyone else on the planet, and they're very easy to overlook in light of the rest of his life.

He died exactly 5 years ago today and I, and I know many others, sorely miss him and will always remember him as described above.

Rest In Peace

Just curious...

2007-12-22 12:41:27 · 29 answers · asked by ZZZ is Curiouser and Curiouser 5

Iowa is my favourite album, because it's Slipknot at their heaviest and most brutal. Their self-titled debut was absolutely wicked though, with songs like "Surfacing", "Spit It Out" and [Sic] being some of the most vicious songs in history. But you just can't go past the all-out onslaught of "People=Sh*t", "Disasterpiece",
"Skin Ticket", "Metabolic" and "The Heretic Anthem".

I was a little undecided about Vol. 3 when I first heard it, I thought Corey was singing too much (although I just adore Vermilion Pt. 2) and the songs weren't fast and heavy enough. But when you give a few hard listens to songs like "The Blister Exists", "Three Nil", "Before I Forget" and the evil "Pulse Of The Maggots", you realise the brutality and ferocity is still there in spades.

I am anticipating their next album more than anything I've ever anticipated before in my life. I have no doubt in my mind that it will be one of the best metal albums of this decade.

What do you think?

I want something easy to play that sounds good for rock. I've heard good things about stratocasters and Les Paul. What are the main differences between the two? Do you recommend one more than the other, or maybe something else?

Whenever people say "teens these days have such bad taste in music" I get pretty defensive, but then I think about it and a lot of the people around me DO listen to a lot of bad music (in my opinion at least) and there really is no single person around me that really actualy listens to progressive rock.

So are you surrounded by people with good taste (in your opinion) or do you stand alone?
What do you listen to? What do they listen to?

People here in Yahoo R&P keep repeating the same line like lemmings.
"Music changes, times change get over it"
Well I will "get over it" the day I drop dead, and not one second before. Yes music does change and evolve, but there is another concept in the scientific world called de-evolution.
Sometime in the natural world a species de-evolves and eventually dies out.
A process I strongly feel Rock music is deep in the throes of right now.
In the natural world species die of deforestation and human overcrowding.
Rock is dying from abuses of corporate power suits and FOB & Nickelback soulless clones which spew forth at an alarming rate

So My question is this what are Your thoughts on the de-evolution and upcoming death of Rock Music
