Or is she another case of those legends neglected in life, overrated when they´re gone?

Hi
No she wasn't as great as they say....,she was better, what a voice, listen to her sometime, what a range and note perfect even live. Try listening to 'Going Back' without feeling any emotion, if you can...you're dead from the neck up.

I love Dusty Springfield!! And I generally hate hate hate hate female singers. During her career she was popular, probably more so in the UK and Europe than here in the US. She had a strong, memorable voice and whatever she was singing you felt it in your own soul. Read her biography, She left us too soon

I personally think she was fantastic. I love her voice and the songs she performed.

However, I don't exactly hear people going on about her the same way they do about Jim Morrison or John Lennon. So, I don't see how she could be overrated.

"It happens to be True..." She WAS Great. I listened to Her ALL the time on the Radio when I was a Kid... And you can't Say "Sixties Music"- without mentioning Dusty. Neglected- she WASN'T. :)

Yes. You only had to hear Her to know that you were in the presence of a true talent.

I liked her voice. I liked the kinda smoky, soul quality she had, in songs like "Son of a Preacher Man".
