Woe to you, Oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the
beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short...
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the
beast for it is a human number, its number is Six hundred and
sixty six.

Can someone tell me any song, that has better meaning or impact? C'mon all you 80's rockers! Best answer gets 10 YO!

The group from the late 70's ~ Early 80's - made up of a bunch of actors - they had hits such as "Daddy Cool" and others that escape me now, but manly cover versions of old 50's songs with alot of "do wopping" in. I remember their LP with a picture of them all on a fairground ride. Are they still together or did any of them go on to bigger and better things ?

So the great local radio station here has been playing a lot of Shostakovich lately- and while it's distinctly Russian (I think...) it's not really the bone-jarring roars of musical fury for which one notes Shostakovich to be reputed.

And then a week later, they played one. Whoa. It was like an earthquake!! It was cool =) maybe even surpassing my golden boy of forceful symphony, Dvorak! =)

Well last night at the library I checked out five of Dmitriy's symphonies. Yay! Deutsche Grammaphone mostly I think. Yay!

Well, which ones are more or less toothy, pray tell?

Could someone please help me analyse this piece? I couldn't really find much information on the internet, and the program note criteria is that I cannot talk too much about the general background. It doesn't have to be long though, since I only need around 70-75 words. Please help. Thank you.

People say they are profound; I disagree. PINK FLOYD LYRICS are profound. Rush lyrics are said to be deep just because Neil Peart was said to have read the philosopher 'Ayn Rand' [whoever that is.] All I'm hearing in their songs is "Yeah baby! Let's get rid of those messy social restraints and have 'free will...' i.e. to hell with religion, let's do whatever the hell we want!
Is that what passes for profound lyrics these days? Give me Dylan, Cohen or Springsteen any day....

Back in the 80'z there was a song called the "Clap-Clap" song and if I recall correctly, it was sung by Pi Izza Dora....don't know if I have her name correct either. Can anyone help me out with this? I've been looking for the lirycs and the song itself for quite a while now.

"My friends are gettin older,
so I guess I must be too.
Without their loving kindness,
I don't know what I'd do.
Oh the wine bottle's half empty--
the money's all spent.
And we're a cross between our parents
and hippies in a tent."

Also, I know Jack Johnson's covered it a few times but has anyone else? Thanks :)

Wanna save the day with just one smile

I wrote this song in 15 mins when i was pissed at my friends so here goes :

The value of this friendship means nothing to me
No friend can stand to see this eyes of dispare
No avenge seeking desire
But your sympathy is growing cold

Losing the way i think inside
The anger and longing to be free
Lukes beneathe me within this cold summer

Will you mind coming over
Knowing my disgrace
Won't you mind coming over
I'm wasted without this face
