Ok music fans: think back to a time when MEN, in the mid-70's BEFORE the "macho" Disco era, recorded songs in their "femmne" voice tone.

I know "Shannon" was a song about a dog. Yes....sigh....it was 'pop sappy', but a memorable song. I forgot who did it , though....anybody know?

There is a song that I hardly know any of the words. But every now and then it will be on a movie soundtrack or some made for tv movie or television show. There is a woman singing in a voice that's pretty high pitched and very soft. The song is slow and she's singing something like "white horses (??) won't pull/turn you/me away". I think it's an older song and I think it's pretty popular since I've heard it several times on several different occassions. If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I really love singing and I do lessons at school. I like writing my own songs but somehow everything I write just sounds stupid when I'm finished. I like singers like Nerina Pallot and Missy Higgins because their lyrics aren't just shake your booty and you looking sexy over there and stupid stuff they actually mean something, any suggestions on themes or ideas for me to write songs about or ways to like what i write would b appreciated!

I have recently listened The Doobie Brothers from the beginning of 70'. This very skilled and elegant band has, as far as I understand, not got wider popularity in Northern Europe, however. Is it because other bands of this era (like The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and CSN&Y) were better-marketed by record companies, rock magazines e.t.c.? Can DB (as I think) have a significant status in the history of rock music? What has their history been like after 70's?

All I remember is that her video was in black & white, and I saw it on MTV in the late 80's. She had crazy hair, spiked on top and long braids down to her knees in the back. She was wearing a trench-coat, and had a chain running from around her ear to her nose. I know SOMEBODY must know who I'm talking about! Please help! Oh, and it was raining in the video, as she was walking along a river or some sort of water. Hope that's enough info for you! THANKS!
