Hi - I'm beginning to play cello and looking for a first instrument. I am leaning towards buying a silent electric cello as a first instrument. The reasons being - I live in an apt. with limited space, sound-sensitive neighbors and roomie, and I will probably be playing at odd hours. However, if an electric cello is going to make me develop "bad habits" as a beginner or differs in some great way from a "real" acoustic cello, then I would just as soon buy an acoustic. Does anyone have any advice?
