In terms of look and feel, Batman Returns (1992) seems to have more in common with "pure" Tim Burton films such as Edward Scissorhands (1990) than the 1989 original. Was this a deliberate creative decision, or just coincidence?

I feel his films are brilliant and well written as opposed to the generic nonsense that Hollywood has been pumping out as of late. I'm not saying all present Hollywood films are bad, but many that are making millions are lacking in quality for example the Star Wars Prequels gentle George jammed down our throats.
