If Jack Sparrow had behaved in the first movie, like he did in the second movie, do you think the franchise would have taken off and been as successful?
In part one almost everything out of his mouth was quoteworthy. He was a graceful fighter (with a bit of humor now and then) and he was very clever and intelligent.
In part two they had him doing slap stick humor and didn't give him very many good lines. They replaces most of his "quoteworthyness" with him screaming and saying "bugger" repeatedly. (He only has a few "quotes" that get recognized by the masses from #2)
If he would have bumbled, tripped, bumped his head and fell on his face while fighting Barbossa in part one (the way he did in the sequel)...If he was singing "I know whose blood you need" rather than showing us how clever and calculating he was, would we have all been so charmed by him?
I personally don't think so. Part two was a big disappointment (in my opinion) Bring back the REAL Cap'n Jack in part 3!
