The film has several different endings. The one you saw is an interpretation that she too suffered from a double personality like her father did that is why you see her playing hide and seek in the room and finally looking into a mirror thinking she found the other person.

There are 5 different endings The ending you saw is pretty obvious, after seeing her father with a split personality killing people, finding out he actually killed her mom, and he actually tries to kill her. All the the things she had seen made her disturbed and she probably developed split personality too.

I never got to the end of that film. It was so bad, I cant believe Robert Deniro took that awful role.

Were there two endings? The one I saw showed her drawing a picture and she was living with one of the women in the movie...I can't remember which one...
