My dad is Italian and Syrian, but my mom is a mix of stuff and 25% Irish (her grandpa was born there). Even though I'm not that much Irish, my name is Kelly. It's after her sister who passed away. I think people do this either because they have a connection to the name or they just like the way it sounds. But I could see why it annoys you.
