If the sentence content seems odd, its because I changed it because it's a private work document. Should I use a comma or semicolon between "requirements" and "including?" I'd appreciate references if you have them. Thanks!

Why do some contestents in a spelling bee ask for the work origin ( latin etc )? If they don't know how to spell the work in the first place, how does knowing the origin help?
