I am particularly interested in rules underlying use of compund words and how these rules have changed. Another focus in this interest is to establish how word meanings have changed. Finally, to establish how much spoken mid-Victorian British English may have resembled written forms of the time an how that compares to modern standard British English . My question: Can anyone suggest some excellent references?

I'm curious to know that why do people from English-speaking counrty ask me what my weekend plan will be like? Here in Japan. we ask that question when I want to invite someone to go somewhere. Is that a reason because it's easy way to begin with a conversation?

Hi, I'm Japanese. How would you refuse someone's invite if you were not interested in that. especially between good friends.......I don't want to hurt them but I don't really hope to join.

Frank was bruttaly shoved into the wall. Someone, in their haste, had left his hoodie behind. He tried to reach for it but his arm was yanked up and cuffed to the other one. He was tossed into the nearby van, where yet another person blindfolded him and gagged him. Frank struggled, but he knew with a easy feeling there was no way he was getting out of this mess that he had mistakenly gotten himself into.

the word smell itself seems infected by the cheesyness of a twice worn sock!
why are there no luscious fruity positive words to describe smell.
she smells nice....no
she stinks nice...no
she has a nice odour...no
she is fragrant today...no
is fragrant the best we can do?
what about lish....?
she lishes lovely tonight.....not bad
i think the new word should definately incorporate either a
shhh sound
or a ffff sound.
both sounds are a soft airy expellation of air, indicative of something that might be carried on a breeze like a deLISHious scent in the air.
