I heard that the ACT is much easier than the SAT. I know that you don't lose points, it's more like college, and it's less expensive. I've never taken the SAT or a practice ACT, but from taking the SAT, I feel like I may improve, but I don't know if I'll ever get a score above 2000. I want to take the ACT and the SAT both to get a good idea of which score is better so I can submit it into the university of my choice.
Is it a good idea to take both?

This isn't really a question, more of a rant. I got a new curriculum map, and not only do I have to teach the things that my district fears will be on the big English Regents exam (state test) in 3 years, but I actually have to teach the kids how to take the test, and I have to administer old versions of the test four times this year. Of course, I have to prepare them for this as it will be incoporated into their grades.
Yet, we're not 'teaching to the test'.

We now have cookie cutter classrooms, and soon, kids are only going to learn exactly what the federal powers that be want them to know.
Thoughts?

there was a poem about a lord who was lamenting about a lady leaving. I recall the title being along the lines of "on a lady leaving" or something of the sort and a number. It was not by Lord Byron. In the poem it discussed how his love was so deep that he did not show much emotion; his love was not the roaring fire but the simmering coals, or something. please help, for a class.

I have a probelm with AP English. From day one, my teacher's been emphasizing how "brutal" the class will be. She keeps recommending some students to drop the class, she says "it's a very mature decision". I thought I would do well in that class, I thought I did well on a test, but I didn't and I am so shocked and I think she looked dissapointed too. She doesn't seem to give me a direct answer, but from the way it looks, it doesn't seem like she's too keen for me to stay. I've been in MYIB (middle years IB) as a freshman, and I know what it means to take tough classes, but now I'm scared this is going to the maximum level. I do not want to pass a class with a D or a C because frankly, I've never recieved and never want to recieve a D, and as far as a C, I REALLY want to get into an Ivy League, and a C will look far from good. I don't want to take a regular class, but this may be the only option I'm left with. I do hope to take the AP test but as far as the class goes, I'm unsure. help?

My daughter finished kindergarten as "level 4" reader.
We did a summer reading program and now at the start of 1st grade she's now a "level 12".

What does "level 12" mean? Is it 2nd grade level, or advanced 1st grade? If someone knows the answer that'd make my afternoon, thanks!
