I heard that the ACT is much easier than the SAT. I know that you don't lose points, it's more like college, and it's less expensive. I've never taken the SAT or a practice ACT, but from taking the SAT, I feel like I may improve, but I don't know if I'll ever get a score above 2000. I want to take the ACT and the SAT both to get a good idea of which score is better so I can submit it into the university of my choice.
Is it a good idea to take both?

It doesnt matter which is easier. What counts is how you do compared to all the other kids who take it. Nearly all colleges say that they dont care which one you take. What they want to know is, do you do a decent job on it, and how do you compare to other kids who have taken it.

The college admissions guys are not stupid, They see 1000s and 1000s of applications every year. They know how to look at an application and balance out your marks, vs your essay vs your SAT or ACT vs your letters of reference. If they see Cs in English and a brilliant essay, they know you bought it. If they see A+ average and a mediocre SAT they know you probably had a bad day. If they see an A average and they know that the last ten kids from your high school who came to their college failed out, then they know what that means about your HS, or vice versa.
Don't try to work the system! The only thing that can happen is that you will wind up in a school that you dont belong at, and then you will be unhappy.

Yes, it's a good idea--if you take a practice test for each one first to see where you stand. So you need to take an ACT practice test after studying a little bit to see if you can get a respectable score (although I have no clue what a respectable score is). Then, if you can, it is worth taking the ACT.

I did way better on the SAT when I was in school. There was no science part for one thing on the SAT. Science requires too much knowledge of facts instead of just reasoning ability and should not be included on a test of this sort.

Everyone takes both and the SAT is weighted more when colleges looks at your transcripts.
