I have a probelm with AP English. From day one, my teacher's been emphasizing how "brutal" the class will be. She keeps recommending some students to drop the class, she says "it's a very mature decision". I thought I would do well in that class, I thought I did well on a test, but I didn't and I am so shocked and I think she looked dissapointed too. She doesn't seem to give me a direct answer, but from the way it looks, it doesn't seem like she's too keen for me to stay. I've been in MYIB (middle years IB) as a freshman, and I know what it means to take tough classes, but now I'm scared this is going to the maximum level. I do not want to pass a class with a D or a C because frankly, I've never recieved and never want to recieve a D, and as far as a C, I REALLY want to get into an Ivy League, and a C will look far from good. I don't want to take a regular class, but this may be the only option I'm left with. I do hope to take the AP test but as far as the class goes, I'm unsure. help?

Btw, I am taking AP US history and AP biology as a sidenote. I also have those classes to worry about.

Another sidenote: I'm a new student. I have a ton of summer assignments to make up, which is why I'm technically behind in AP english. I've finally adapted level-to-level with my history and bio class, but I feel I'm waaaay behind in English.

Stick to it. I took the class last year and it one of the most challenging class and most rewarding class that I have ever taken. AP classes look great on your transcript. You just have to work really hard. The class will seem extremely hard for the first few weeks, but as you get into it you will see your English skills improve dramatically.

I would stick with it. If it is hard, the challenge will be great preparation for you and teach you good study skills. Most teachers prefer the "run for your lives" tactic as a way of "thinning the herd." In my experience, as long as you are willing to do the work assigned and study regularly, it is rarely as bad as they say. Plus, if you go to a college prep level English, you aren't going to learn much of anything in class. I wish I took AP.

Stick with it. AP English language and composition is much easier than the AP Literature exam. You have to learn to challenge yourself because that's what college is about.

at my school, AP language is supposed to be easy and AP literature is the hard one. i would probably stay to prove i could do it. but if you are taking a lot of AP classes then you should get out. if this does not help, then ask your teacher if she thinks you should stay, or your counselor. also, get the opinions of some friends who know you better than i do.

Stick it out. If you're looking at Ivy League schools, it wont get any easier when you get there, no matter what your gpa is
