It's questionable that my young son may have Aspergers Syndrome. I've looked up things on the internet about it, but it was quite overwhelming.

Also, we've thought about homeschooling him but not sure if that would make the conditions worse? We would insure he would have ample social interactions just more closely monitored?

Any thought, suggestions or information would be appreciated!

Thor prefers ASL,the Speech Therapist(ST) at school keeps pushing the Picture Exchange Program(PEP),this is where you show a picture to show what you want/need.Thor has been signing for 9 years and wants nothing to do with PEP. I have talked with his teacher and ST(teacher is also a hearing signer).I don't want Thor to have a "communication breakdown" because his signing is not being acknowledged. The ST's logic is not everyone is a hearing signer,I know and respect that but Thor's communication also has to be respected

my friends just 6 year old daughter masturbates by jumping up and down on a stuffed animal. She stops and redirects her daughter. But are they any preventions she can put in place for when she isnt there and maybe a family member is babysitting. Obviously she is looking for some sensory stimulation - what can this mom do for her daughter?

I am not trained in any nursing procedures yet I am expected to do a daily g-tube feeding on a child in my class. I have found all sorts of laws about MR/DD personnel not being authorized to do g-tube feeding unless they are supervised and a nurse delegates the task to them after they have been certified. As a teacher, am I considered MR/DD personnel even though I'm not employed by the local board of MR/DD but I provide services to student with MR in my class? I don't want to do anything illegal and my school district is not forthcoming with information and training on the subject. I feel like a nurse should be administering the feeding because I have no idea what to do if things go wrong!!! I could use some legal advice from a special ed teacher. Thanks!!!

Ok so I am in all special ed/ foundation classes. Math, science, english, spanish, and history. Also study skills. Now lets say I get all A+ on my report cards for the 4 years strait and my friend in all regular classes not foundation gets A+ 4 years strait. If we both apply to the same college would they decline my because I am in foundation and he would make it? How would my foundation look on a college application? Would it say the subject and if its foundation or not or would it just say the class? Like would the college see Algeo or algebra? Will these foundation classes really affect me from getting into colleges even if I get good grades? Does it determine the school or what?
