The poem is By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Nature

As a fond mother, when the day is o’er,
Leads by the hand her little child to bed,
Half willing, half reluctant to be led,
And leave his broken playthings on the floor,
Still gazing at them through the open door,
Nor wholly reassured and comforted
By promises of others in their stead,
Which, though more splendid, may not please him more;
So nature deals with us, and takes away
Our playthings one by one, and by the hand
Leads us to rest so gently, that we go
Scarce knowing if we wish to go or stay,
Being too full of sleep to understand
How far the unknown transcends the what we know.

Does anyone know which one is right? " Ideas are far more powerful than guns, we don't let our people have guns, why should we let them have ideas?" or " Ideas are far mor powerful than guns, we wouldn't let our enemies have guns, why would we let them have ideas?" Joseph Stalin said one of them, I just don't know which one is right. Do you know?

continuation from my other question, i took someone's advice and was using the dr. jekyll and mr. hyde idea she gave me. i found a quote but i dont have the book. could anyone give me the page numbers if i gave you the quote? it's in chapter 10, i got it off sparknotes but i dont have the page numbers to cite it with. i think it said it's midway through chapter 10 or something like that

here's the quote:

It was on the moral side, and in my own person, that I learned to recognise the thorough and primitive duality of man; I saw that, of the two natures that contended in the field of my consciousness, even if I could rightly be said to be either, it was only because I was radically both; and from an early date . . . I had learned to dwell with pleasure, as a beloved daydream, on the thought of the separation of these elements.

Anyone know any famous quotes or proverbs about music? Quotes from famous people would be cool as well. The important thing is that the quote relate to music or sounds somehow.
