well, this was my question. Manage to answer what i learned, but stuck at the second paragraph.
We learnt how to understand artworks today. Basically, we have to understand the elements and priciples of art, to understand an artwork. By understanding this elements and principle, it can help us to understand a bit better on why the artist paint a certain way. But not only that, to help us understand much better on the artwork, we have to know who is the artist and his or her background. Sometimes, we have to understand the culture of the art. With the help of the arts origin and history, we can sometimes know why certain drawings are drawn in certain ways. Drawings in particular era changes in time. We have to consider the economic, social, religious and political factor too. The content too must be clear. Some artworks, such as modern art, have no subject or setting. When artists represent people, places, or actions, viewers must identify these to completely understand the work.
