Based on you question, you make it sound like only Liberals can be tolerant. I disagree. I know plenty of tolerant Conservatives. And for the record, I consider myself a tolerant Liberal.

Be that as it may, tolerance only requires that I acknowledge the right of a person to believe or act in a particular fashion. I don't have to like it, I only have to accept that it is a given person's choice and/or nature. (Not everything is a choice, I realize) For example, a person may not believe in God. If they honestly believe that, then that is their right, although I believe them to be wrong. They can get together with others who feel the same way and I have no problem. I even have no problem if they want to try to argue why they feel they are right and I am wrong. A little healthy, rationale, POLITE debate is good, I think. Should they, however, try to impose their beliefs and / or way of life upon me (or any one else, for that matter), then they have gone too far. Tolerance is a two way street. If you want me to accept you and your beliefs, then you had best be prepared to accept mine.

their tolerance stretches just as so far as their party lines and their beliefs...all who think differently are considered the enemy and are either destroyed verbally or physically....liberals portray themselves as tolerant, inclusive, open minded and compassionate...just read what those who call themselves liberal post just on yahoo q & a...do you think they are any of those things? as far as they 'justifying their tolerance' they justify or excuse everything they do by blaming others and denying their actions. the middle of the road democrats should distance themselves from nuts like howard dean, jesse jackson, hillary clinton and their ilk or they will never prosper. a prime example...look at the polls coming out in louisiana a predominately dem/lib area they are voting for rep's...that alone should send them a message from the ppl.

Liberal tolerance is what everyone but themselves should be doing. They live in the suburbs and tell city dwellers how to live. But if a minority moves near them, then they move further from the city.
