Multiply the length by the width of a room, box, car, building, or whatever. FOR EXAMPLE... the length of the one room was 11 feet and 2 inches by 15 feet and 3 inches.. You multiply 11.2 X 15.3 and that will give you 171.36 square feet

Whenever you find the word sqare it indicates the surface area of a geometrical figure.So, when the length of a geometrical figure in feet is multiplied by width or breadth of it in feet,we get square feet. 1 sqare feet= 1 ft. X 1 ft.

Square means having 2 dimensions... a flat shape with no depth. the square of any regular quadrilateral will always be the length multiplied by the breadth not minding the unit of measurement.... square feet can also be found by bashing your toes against a wall till they are flat... ewwww... ok that s not quite nice !!

Each unit length multiplied by itself gives you the square of that unit, hence a square which is one foot wide and one foot long will give you one square foot.
so 3ft wide by 2ft long gives you 3 * 2 = 6 square feet
that is 6 ft ^2

it means you have a foot lengthwise and widthwise. it's a square that no matter how you measure it when it;'s flat, it comes out as a foot. square footage is used in housing plans and storage units and other such things. measurement of area.
