I have to name these characters for my short story but I dont know what nams to give them.

What does conciliatory mean exactly? I have looked it up in the dictionary and the thesaurus and I still don't get it. I have to learn it for my vocabulary homework. On my homework I have to answer the question in a manner that demonstrates my understanding of the word conciliatory. The question is: Are conciliatory remarks helpful? Explain. Another conjecture: The sum of the first n even positive intgers is____?
Example: 2=1(2)
2+4=6=2(3)
2+4+6=12=3(4)
2+4+6+8=20=4(5)

I don't want anyone to just give me the answer, what i'm concerned about is (2.40 kg)(2.40 m). because one is in kg and the other in m, do i have to convert it to the same unit before mulitplying or can i just multiply it with the different units? If i have to convert it to the same units, can anyone tell me how to do so? Please don't say i'm taking the easy way out, i really just need to know this one fact.
