sorry i wasn't clear before. the q says she uses 24 sq. tiles when counted up 8 & 3 gives me 22 what am i not getting no laughter I just don't get this.

you did not provide units. But just as a guess, the answer is the perimeter.

2*l + 2*w = perimeter = 2*8 + 2*3 = 22

if you want the area.
l x w = a = area = 3 x 8 = 24

where l = length and w = width

8+3 does not equal 24 but 8 times 3 does.

8 * 3 = 24... try using ur calculator! :)

8+8 = 16

16 + 8 = 24

therefore, 8*3 = 24!

count again, your question is not very clear but I would guess it is,

8x3 = 24.
