Discipline to me (when parenting) is to help your child to internalize their values, so when you are not around, they have their own set of values. That is why spanking and violence does nothing to further a child's values which you want them to have to prepare for the world. As adults discipline is in self discipline....we probably have a set of values by now and the self dsicipline to follow through with good decisions is important in life.

In my view, discipline means me knowing what to do and what not to do. For example, when I get home from school should I watch TV or start my homework right away? If I were disciplined I would start my homework right away. Discipline is knowing right from wrong. Hope I was a help :)

discipline is different than punishment- punishment is just a negative reaction to an action, not meant to teach but to make one suffer for their actions- it is intended to hurt with no real results besides pain expected
Discipline, though it sometimes hurts, is meant to teach, to bring into line with what is right. Sometimes it is the natural consequence to an action. Discipline is intended to bring results, a change in behavior or way of going about something- discipline whether it is administered by an authority or self discipline involves correction of an undesired behavior and training to encourage the proper behavior.
Punishment shows no love, true discipline shows love

It has no meaning close to to punishing your toddlers for incorrect doing. it may be a type of formal practise, yet extremely has extra to do with aspects of diagnosis and with self -self-discipline means to inspire. i imagine with toddlers, purely good consistency is extremely the major. A structure in which they could develop in reason they understand the obstacles. i have been preparation for 30 years and that i'm prepared to guess that a baby that became raised in a depending and nurtured surroundings for the first 12 yrs. of her existence , probably can make it her own if tragedy struck. the position because the negected, abused, spoiled ,enabled newborn would have a not ordinary time making after the age of 12 in a properly depending and nuturing surroundings. both maximum excellent tragedies of this society are the cycle detrimental toddlers having toddlers and the properly off permitting completely healthful toddlers into unaccountable priviledged helplessness. the first team will likely have a noticeably difficult uphill conflict from the get flow and would self medicate, even as the 2d would fall right into a similar seize, even with the undeniable fact that it will be later in existence even as truth instruments in and the mothers and fathers can now not administration their newborn's surroundings. Do you run in and wrestle with the instructor in the journey that your newborn receives a C, then you truthfully can be a pink enabler. As a instructor , we frequently dig in if we like the newborn, and provides in right now if apparently hopeless if so we purely image the newborn at 17 on the settee, jobless, telling the mummy the position she will flow. yet thank God she made the respect position contained in the fifth grade.

Discipline is the trait of being well behaved. I have found the most effective way of discipline is "timeout" A minute for every year old.

Teaching a child the consequences of his actions. It also teaches self control. Discipline means you can control a child without hitting.

Discipline means to respect authority and to learn good manners. Practice makes perfect. Parents need to teach their children that there are rules to follow in order to become a good citizen. They should not let their children tell them what to do. They need to make sure that their children understand that they are in charge.

Discipline: according to parents: the logical way to treat their kids (especially teens) after they have done something wrong.
according to kids: an unfair method used by parents for getting their kids grounded.
