#1) I've overheard cute Spanish chicks say things about me in Spanish and they didn't think I understood them, but I did. Talk about an inside scoop;
#2) Make money. They like it when you speak their language and will more likely buy from you;
#3)They respect that a gringo has taken the time to learn their language. When I say "con permiso" (excuse me), to a Spanish guy or girl at Wal Mart, it just blows them away cause they don't expect it from a guy with light skin, eyes and hair;
#4)For when you travel, there are some beautiful places in this world where Spanish is spoken, for example, Madrid, Barcelona, Puerto Rico, South Florida. You'll have an edge by speaking the native tongue;
#5)Knowing another language makes it easier to read and write English. The roots of a lot of English words, medical, legal and scientific terms, are Latin. By knowing Spanish, you will have an easier time of it in College. I guarantee it!
Well, I don't have ten to give you because I am not David Letterman. But here is the top most excellent reason to learn Spanish:
#6) It drives some girls nuts. My beautiful blonde haired, blue-eyed wife from Little Rock Arkansas, turns into a tigress when I whisper sweet little spanish things in her ears. And this has nothing to do with politics. A lot of fringe elements that are a throwback to the dinosaur age will try to turn this into an Immigration issue. The great thing about a democracy is that it tends to ignore the fringes!

If you speak Spanish, you can communicate with almost 500 million people worldwide! Think how many more employment options that gives you! And if you want to take a trip to Spain or Latin America, a little knowledge of Spanish will go a long way.
At the end of the 19th century, 60 million people spoke Spanish. Today, almost 500 million people worldwide speak Spanish! approximately 350 million people in 21 countries (Mexico: 98 million, Spain: 39 million, USA: 39 million, Argentina: 35 million, Colombia: 36 million,Venezuela: 22 million, Peru: 20 million…) Spanish is the second most used language in international communication.
The Hispanic population in the USA has grown by 60% in just one decade. The 39 million Hispanics currently living in the USA make up 12.5% of the total population. This population growth has increased demand for Spanish language media: radio, television,newspapers, magazines... Latin America countries are showing strong economic growth,making them potentially major commercial partners. The newly created MERCOSUR, along with the existing free trade agreements between Hispanic countries and North America (ALADI, the Andean Community,CACM,NAFTA, G3), aims to improve the economy of these countries by making them more efficient and competitive.

Going through everyday life in America without a basic understanding of the Spanish language is getting mroe difficult every day. With more people coming to the U.S. that only speak Spanish, if you have a job working with people (such as a doctor or teacher), knowing this language is practically essential. Plus, if you can't communicate with a vast percent of people living in your country, what good is that?

You will expand your employment opportunities by knowing a second language, and Spanish is the second-most spoken language in the U.S.

If you learn a romance language such as Spanish, it helps you understand other romance language structures and vocabulary (especially helpful if you're interested in traveling to other countries).
