I have asked my mother to home-school me before but she says she can't, she has to go to work in order to pay her bills and such.
I'm in the 9th grade, what other ways can I be taught other than actually going to school? What types of home-schooling are there? What is best?

I mean this as a very sincere question to those of you opposed to home education is it really the socialization that is a problem for you or the kind of socialization? The reason I ask that is because for our family personally, both of my children get along greatly with others. We were invited to a pool party and there were children there from ages 6-14 and mine didn't stand off in the corner, scared of the world. They played and interacted and at the end of the night our 12yo sat with another 12yo boy (whom he just met) and a 13 yo girl in the hot tub and they laughed and had a wonderful time conversing. When we go to the store, they look the cashiers in the face and speak to them coherently when they make a purchase and the same holds true for waitors/waitresses. At Blues on the Beach a few weeks ago our 12yo went off on his own and the other night while at a fundraiser in which my hubby's heavy metal band played both children were off playing with other kids... see details

Culture and custom are the essence of learning what have made people live and understand the present. All conturies have thier particularity of culture and custom. Therefore, they learn how thier ancestors lived and what kind of life stye they had pursued as they have thier own rituals and festivals. Withouht any rituals and festivals in a country, its citizen wouldn't think about what have helpd them live up to the present time. Also, history is also important essence that remids us of historical heroes and veterans in numerous wars. Because every conturies had survived based on the indomitable efforts of thier ancestors who had fought for their conturies during many wars, we have lived safely and peacefully in our countries. Therefore, we should admire and applaud them as we think about how we have been able to live so far.

I live in Virginia, I want home schooling, or I want to get emancipation and drop out, because I have the requirements of the emancipation process, I'd rather get an education, but I do not want to be in the alternative school that I am in now.
What are the requirements for home schooling and how do you get it?
