I am really stressing over this! The instructions for my essay are: 1) Choose a topic from your own knowledge and experience 2) Use specific examples to show what you mean.
I am having to rewrite it because i used facts from research to support my viewpoints and thesis; they said it wasn't 'enough about me' . I don't understand this style they want me to write in. Can anyone help? 8-/ I don't like to write without facts because it seems like emotional writing, which I have learned to be ineffective writing, or propaghanda. I guess I am a little confused....

My daughter is doing homeschooling starting on the 28th.
We saw this website advertised on tv.
I think you pay a small fee every month, and they cover every subject, and real teachers go online to help the kids out.
I remember it being white and green, I'm not sure though.
Anyone willing to help? I'd be grateful!

I have been home schooling my 8 year old daughter for 3 years, and now have an 8 month old son. I'm having trouble doing everything that needs to get done. I can't seem to stay motivated with school, even with accountability. We educate in the Charlotte Mason style.

Most teachers do not teach kids HOW to study, they just give kids terminology (as an ex) and send them home saying,"Study for Friday's test." Most kids study instinctively. Others, now adults, have had to develop compensatory skills (tricks to get the job done that work for them). I was one such student. So, to the instinctive student I ask you to reflect on HOW you "study" and to the student who developed compensations, I ask what worked for you?

Previously, the best response I got was:
Read the questions 1st! Then write down every bold print title and the italicized words and their def. for the next days lessons. Then read that portion of the text. When reading for comprehension in a library book write down the characters as they show up and tell who they are in relation to the main character. Write down places,cities,year,century,etc... When you finish reading for the time period, read over your notes and put the notes with the book or put in a certain section in your notebook

I am going to homeschool my daughter this upcoming school year--she wil be in Kindergarten. I am trying to figure out what is going to work for us and am interested in finding out exactly unschooling is--I don't think that I quite grasp the concept and would love to hear how it works and what the negatives are.

I don't want to hear that home schooling is bad and she won't have socialization--she is activaly involved in all kinds of activities and has lots of friends that she interacts with every week and has been in preschool until very recently. I have actually been home schooling her since birth and she is an extremely bright child which is the exact reason that I am not putting her in public school--After 2 weeks of being at a private school that goes to 3rd grade she was moved up to the kindergarten/1st grade class and was doing very well academically--but the school has some issues that I was not happy with and we could not reach an agreement so I pulled her out of there.

I have a 1st grade child who has a hard time with her attention span. I have visited drs. etc and do not need medical advice. However, I am wondering if anyone has had experience with homeschooling a child with an attention problem and whether they think it is helpful. In what ways? I think my daughter has a hard time paying attention when there are so many children and distractions around her in public school. We study at home and she does great, but then goes to school and fails her test because she has a hard time focusing there. I've talked to teachers there and last year they felt she had an attention problem as well. I've talked her new teacher as well. However, the problem still exists and I am trying to get educated from people who have experience in these matters. Thanks.
