I am not interested in being homeschooled since I am out of school. My niece wants to be homeschooled, she is going into 10th grade and wants to graduate early, she thinks being homeschooled she will have more time to devote to her homework and this can help her get alot more done in one year. Her mom works nights, around 4pm, and then 2 days a week at 11:30 am. Do you think this would be a good idea to be homeschooled in order for her to get ahead and reach her acedemic dreams? Do you think her moms work schedule will get in the way? Any tips on ways for her to ask?

Biases and generalizations are a strong part of our society. It is too easy to hold opinions that stereo-type others. "Home-schooling" means something different to every person that will answer the question. What is your answer?

I am a mother to 4 home-educated students. 2 are now adults and 2 will soon be adults. If you know them personally then I'm sure you can tell me what you know. But if you don't know them please don't give them labels such as: Misfit, Social outcast, Ignorant; Sheltered; Troubled; etc.... I know hundreds and maybe even thousands of home-taught students that do not fit into the demeaning categories imposed on them by others that don't know the truth.

My home-educated children and grandchildren are well liked in our community. Our extended family, friends and even strangers comment often about how they are well mannered and intelligent. This is the same for all of the families that I personally know that home-teach.

I have started homeschooling my 5th grade daughter and she needs a microsope for science. I would like to find a new one, and one that will be sturdy enough to last throughout the rest of her education. Can any one suggest a cheap one from a store. I have found one for $159.00, but thought maybe I could find one cheaper. Can anyone help?

My husband has asked me if I would like to home school our daughter. We have plenty of time to think about it. She is only 1 1/12, but already goes to school. (day care). It's more like preschool. They follow a strict curriculum. What are the pros and cons of private school verses home school? Public school is not an option here at all. We live in Louisiana!!!

We're about to start our 4th year homeshooling. I'd like to hear from other homeschoolers. Any tips, any particular order you do your subjects in? Any really good textbooks you've come across? We found Apologia Elementary Science this year and are excited.

The American (Western) schools that are here are very expensive. My son is 5 so I don’t feel that Kindergarten should be that much of a financial obligation for his first year.
(Cost 1600.00 OR = $4,208)

1. Maybe there are Aids/Grants out there for oversea school cost?
2. Maybe a list of families already home schooling in Oman that can be contacted.
3. Maybe home schooling online or at least a web site we can download kindergarten lessons for my wife and I to teach him.

I have no Idea why everyone thinks homeschooling is less or a bad idea. I have been homeschooled all my life from kindergarden and am now in 10th grade. It is a proven fact that homeschooled kids are smarter than the average public school kid. I am 15 years old and am 1 or 2 grades ahead of any kid at my age. i have set foot in a classroom only one time in my life. Plus an advantage I did not start school until 2:oo in the afternoon one day who else can say they did that? I think we deserve as much respect as any public schooled kid. I am very soccial contary to what others have said. That is complete crap that we are not as soccial. Collages are reluctant to have homeschooled kids in there college because they think they are more likely to succeed. Trust me I have done my research.

live in a rural area where schools are lacking any challenge for my intelligent son. I had him in private school last year, and wanted my 4 year old daughter to start this fall. Due to a new sibling coming in late September, we are experiencing a financial crunch that makes the 30-mile-away private school financially prohibitive. I will be employed until the baby arrives, and after that, I will stay home with #3 for an undetermined amount of time. My only option besides lack-luster local schools or too-expensive private schools is to purchase the advanced curriculum, and homeschool for a year. I would have to start this August, while working, and I'll have a baby sometime late in September, so I just need to work and homeschool simultaneously for about 6-8 weeks. After that, we will do just one. Please, I need some valuable sources and input to help me with this problem.
