You need a lot more knowledge than that. You need to find out what the requirements are for 4th grade in your state. get a list of the books and materials to be used. Next go online to price them or find out if the school will sell you a set of books. They may give you a discount since your taxes have paid for the books to be used in school. You may also ask for a copy of the curriculum and work with some of the free online materials for homeschooling. It is a lot of work to do a quality program, but if you are serious, it may be worth it. Your sister should opt to take the standardized tests the school takes. Ask when they are and how would she go about taking them. Find out what the physical education requirement is so you can address that as well. Maybe a program at the YMCA or park district. Good luck.

Well, it could be as little as the cost of a dictionary, a Bible, an encyclopedia, a notebook (or a stick in the sand) for writing, and maybe a math text. If you read the entire encyclopedia you will have more information than you ever dreamed of at your fingertips. (or your sister's)
If you study math every day, write every day and read good books you can get a fine education in the basics and prepare yourself for college or the workplace.
The Webster's dictionary was originally created with the common person in mind --- it was to be a tool to help understand our language and use it to be able to learn all about words --- helping us to read the Bible and any other books that may come our way. Reading the preface to the dictionary is an amazing lesson!
Encyclopedias cover everything from geography to science to nuts and bolts to politics and many things in between.
Education does not need to be expensive to be good.

It depends on which curriculum (books) you use and who you have to go through in your state. My kids were homeschooled for all grades and now are graduating and in college (yea!) If you hook up with other homeschooling families, they often trade and borrow from each other and the costs for books can be nothing at all then! EBAY is a GREAT resource for homeschool books. Contact HSLDA for more information for your states requirements! www.hslda.com (or is that .org?) HSLDA - homeschool legal defense association. (Just as a reference: For all three of my kids, in CA, with all costs considered, and I mean ALL of them! LOL I will spend less then $800 for the entire year, and they are in high school! In CA you have to go through an ISP and we go through a private school, that has class days as part of it, and that is an extra $900 for all three kids.)

depends on the hour, usually if you are going to be homescholled at your house it will be free just like 50 for books every month, if you are going to someones house to be homeschooled it will be around 200-400 dollars sometimes cheaper. you can e-mail me if you have any questions. Do you have a library card? That is really all you need. Sure you can purchase curriculum anywhere from $1 to over $1000 but is not necessary to learn!

It depends on what curriculum you use. I've seen the curriculum start around $100.
