Im looking at potential universities and colleges at the moment and i'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good one in the UK (preferably england) for studying english lit, history, history of art or fine art?? I'm looking for a good quality university with a good reputation but also a good cultural scene - galleries, exhibitions and live bands, also a good nightlife. Any suggestions? I'm particularly interested in going to somewhere around London or one of the other bigger cities.

Got 34 on ACT but w/o writing section
Did so-so on SAT with writing.

If I'm applying to school that needs writing, should I retake SAT, ACT, or neither?

Please explain the practice, in grammar and writing, of consistent usage of staying within a tense, as well as staying within a person (i.e. first person, second person, etc.)

Thanks! : )

For the past 3 years, I have made it a priority to get admission into my top choice of university, Cornell University in Ithica, NY. However, my GPA finalizes to a 3.52 unweighted, and my SAT score is a pathetic 1820. I am involved outside of school. I have few extracurriculur activities, but a not a crowd of them. I have taken a total of 5 AP classes, and is taking 4 more next year, bud sadly recievied a score of a 3 on my AP government exam, which is the only exam i've recieved a score for yet. Cornell is ivy leuague, and I am very intimidated by that fact. Is there still some possibility that I can gain admittance? are there any other things I can do to improve my chances?

So I am now a senior in high school...and I did absolutely horrible on my SAT Reasoning Test and I checked out the colleges that I want to apply too and I'm nowhere near the scores they want...In general, I'm a horrible test taker. My grades overall are pretty good. I have A's and B's and like one C...I haven't taken the ACT yet, but I'm going to do that and I'm going to retake the SAT and hope I will do better. Other than that I took an SAT subject test in German and did really well on that.

My major is going to be Vocal Performance...and a minor in something having to do with computers...I even thought about a double major...but I still have some time to think about that.

So my question is...can I still get into college even if my SAT scores are bad?

I know that's a pretty generalized question...but perhaps one of you did bad on your SATs and still got into college...

If you have any information, I'd be very grateful if you would share it with me...thank you :D
