In America, the average politician makes only about $20,000 per year compared to the average salary of $50,000 for teachers.

Considering that politicians have to do so much work including campaigning for elections and making decisions while all teachers do is sit, talk and write, isn't this a bit unfair?

I have recently been noticing the influx of case studies with children with 'Autism Disorder', a lot of which where Aspergers Syndrome was the diagnosis. When I think of Autism, I think "Rainmain" w/ Dustin Hoffman. But that could be also known as Savant Syndrome. Anyway, do you think a lot of children are getting labeled with 'Autism' when in fact it could be somthing else, such as ADD, or ADHD? There is a child that I know that has a nervous twitch, the twitch is that he constantly is moving his leg and the doctors diagnosed the boy with "Aspergers", the mother of the boy is very upset, and feels it is misdiagnosed, and is going for a second opinion at a University Hospital. I too, am a mother of a special needs child, and I find the influx in Autism diagnosis' alarming. What do you think. Please advise your thoughts on this.

I cannot afford preschool for my child. My income is not low enough to get her into head start (I have already tried) but it's not enough to pay for it myself. I just need some advice on what to teach her so she will not be so far behind the other children. She has attended preschool for about 3 months but due to financial reasons I had to withdraw her. So what are the most important things she should know? And what are some good ways to teach it to her at home? Would you say movies? books? hands on activities? etc....

Hi
i am due to start my final year of uni in september, and i starting to think about jobs that i can use my degree my degree is BA(QTS)primary & special needs. The obvious choice would be teaching seeing as it is a teaching degree however there is a lack of primary teaching jobs in my area and i can not afford to move away just yet so unless i strike really lucky there is no way i am goin to get a teaching job! the only other jobs that i can think of to use my degree are
teaching assistant
portage worker
learning mentor
if anyone can think of any other interesting, rewarding, or jobs that will use my degree i would be very grateful if you could let me know.

Thanks Sandra
