Whenever I call about my courses, they just give me the run around. Doesn't anyone do any work? Or is their main duty to transfer you to another department?

I have a problem with academic papers. Even if I sort of know what I want to write, I can't figure out how to start, and particularly how to organize my paper. This has become a serious problem, even though when I do finish the papers I usually get A's (if they're on time). I just can't organize my thoughts into a good outline. I look at it like this: there are an infinite number of possibilities of how one can argue something, organize the paragraphs, which details to use, etc. It's like mild OCD or something. I've noticed that if I have a glass of wine, which I rarely do, i can write more easily, but I don't want to have to drink to write. Please help! I have a 7 page paper overdue and even though it's not that much, I just don't know how to go about it! Please save my academic career! Thank you!

I am a transfer student from a community college. Now I am in a 4-year university, and I am wondering, when I apply for graduate schools, do they count the overall GPA (including community college) or just what I get in the 4 year university?
Thanks.

Growing up in New York, I was very fortunate to receive an excellent arts education from the public schools I attended. My two life passions have always been singing and painting and I have been very fortunate to been able pursue them both. Now I want to create a legacy of excellent arts education. What evidence can you offer, or what experience have you had, that shows why it is important for young people to receive a good arts education?

You know - when you leave high school you go to be an undergraduate - in UK we choose our subject before we start, in the last year of school, for example I have a degree in Religious Studies, I chose this before I finished my A-levels. How does it work in US, I know it's different but how?

I am a first year middle school teacher trying to figure out how to make things better when I get back to school in January. In college, I was told that bringing out good behavior is better than focusing on the bad things students do. Although this has been true for me to an extent, it does backfire. When I compliment something a student is doing behaviorally (usually a 6th grader), I usually get 2 or 3 other students shouting out that they were doing the same good thing. This happens all the time. (Furthermore, when I call out a student for doing something bad, they bring out someone else doing the same thing, making me look unfair). I can't possibly see everything at one time, and I tell them this. What can I do to continue using a positive approach while calming down the students I didn't recognize at a certain point in time?
