I am a medical students and in my country, they pronounce some medical words in a wrong way.I know the right pronunciation, but I am afraid I'd lose marks in the oral exams 'cause they'd think that my pronunciation is wrong and theirs is right .I dunno what to do.Should I pronounce the words the way they pronounce them(though I 100% know they are wrong as I use dictionaries )or should I stick to the correct pronunciation whatever how many marks that'd cost me?

Both are correct. However, my Human Biology instructor pronounces it "doo-uh-deen'-um." www.merriam-webster.com also lists this pronunciation first. (An interesting aside: The M-W website lists a third pronunciation, as well: "dyoo-...")

Also, check www.dictionary.com. They list the above pronunciation first, as well. However, they list the alternate first-syllable pronunciation "dyoo-" before listing "doo-ah'-d&-num" / "dyoo-ah'-d&-num." (They spell their pronunciations slightly differently than I have here, though.)

Perhaps it might be best, however, to use the pronunciation that is customary in the country in which you will take the oral exam.

dwahh'-den-um
I had an A&P instructor who said it was doo-oh-deen-um.
Your best bet for an oral exam is to have used the pronunciation in the medical dictionaries. We could all be 'wrong'.
best of luck on your exam.

Not only does it give the definition of the word, but you can download a wav file to hear the correct pronunciation.

do-odd-do-em

It's not a proper pronunciation key, but that's a part of the intestines and I know it well.
