I am 46 years old and I decided to go back to college. I am in a pre algebra course. I never took any kind of algebra in school. I dropped out in the 9th grade and went back a year later and got my GED. So this is very new to me and I need some help. Some of it is just basic math but now it is getting to some problems like 7(2x+1) or 5(x+6). When i get to trying to solve problems, I get lost on the way to the answer. I know that there is an easy way to do these kind of problems but I get lost in the showing the work on the way to the answer. Does that make any kind of sense?

I am considering studying overseas, more specificaly the U.K.. I was wondering if anyone has done this and how hard it was to get into their schools and adjust to living? How hard was it to fit into their society? and if you found a job, how hard was it to do so? Also do you know of any scholerships that are offered to students planning on studying overseas?

I work at a job that provides great pay AND benefits (much better then I did as a teacher).

I feel as if I am going mad (well "mad" might be a a bit overstating it,)

however.

I like working with people that involve caring for others (that's why I chose teaching, but I couldn't pay my bills) and in turn ALSO are supportive of the people they work with.

This is not the scenario of this position.

As a secondary part to this question: IF you did say yes to "have any of you felt "displaced" at a job?," answer this queation:

"What did you do to resolve it?"

I WILL tell you that I am not looking for responses that advise ME what to do. I also don't want to hear that I am being negitive.

I love to work, and I plan to work the rest of my life.. I just want to be true to me.

I have been at this job for 6 years and have a hard time believing that this is all there is.

Thank you for your responses.

THE SWAN By Rainer Maria Rilke.

This clumsy living that moves lumbering
as if in ropes through what is not done
reminds us of the awkward way the swan walks.

And to die, which is a letting go
of the ground we stand on and cling to every day,
is like the swan when he nervously lets himself down

into the water, which receives him gaily
and which flows joyfully under
and after him, wave after wave,
while the swan, unoving and marvelously calm,
is pleased to be carried, each minute more fully grown, more like a king, composed, father and father on.

QUESTIONS
1. What does the first stanza of "The Swan" compare the swan's walk to? What does the rest of the poem compare the swan's swimming to?

I moved, got married and priorities changed; now I want to take the LSAT but I'm not sure. If I am so happy teaching, should I try Law School after all?
