Lol are you asking help with your homework??

good idea....but i doubt someone will actually spend their time/knowledge to do it for you. Except someone really kind.

Good luck on that problem, And thanks for the 2 points :-)

um, I'm going to take a couple of guess here because you really should use parenthesis

I am going to assume that this is the equation:
6/(x+1) - 3/2 = 8/(3x+3)

step 1: find the common denominator
denominators:
(x+1);2;(3x+3)

since 3x+3 = 3(x+1), the only factor not added into the equation is 2. Thus the denominator should be 2*3*(X+1) = 6x+6

step 2: simplify the equation

6(6)/6(x+1) - 3(3x+3)/(3x+3)(2) = 8(2)/(3x+3)(2)
(36 - (9x+9))/(6x+6) = 16/(6x+6)

step 3: multiply both sides by the denominator - yields the following equation: 27-9x = 16

Step 4: isolate the variable and solve
9x = 11
x = 11/9

so easy;
6/x + 1 -3/2 = 8/3x + 3
put all equation with x in one side, and the rest at the other side;
6/x - 8/3x = 3 + 3/2 - 1
simplify both side; you will obtain the following;
6/x - 8/3x = 7/2
simplified left side; then you will get;
18/3x + 8/3x = 7/2
10/3x = 7/2
bring x at the top; rearrange the equation;
3x = (10)(2)/7)
at this rate, will find;
x = 20/21;

hopefully will help

I am not sure about the problem set up, but we will give it a try.
I think I am seeing:
6 divided by x plus 1 minus 3 halves = 8/3x plus 3.... is that right?
If so, we might try solving it this way:
1. get all the X terms on one side and all the numerical terms on the other side
6 divided by x minus 8 divided by 8/3x on one side = 3 minus 1 plus 3 halves on the other side.
2. Simplify the numerical terms on the right hand side to 3.5
3. To get rid of the x divisors, multiply both sides by x. The left side ends up being 6 minus 8 thirds which equal 10 thirds . The right side now says 3.5x.
4. We still want to get that x by itself. Divide both sides by 3.5. you will get .95 ( a repeating decimal, usually teachers accept answers to the nearest hundredth place) = x

I think.... I haven't done algebra for years. Also, I wasn't sure if your problem had 8 divided by 3x or 8/3 times x. Sometimes it is hard to use the keyboard to represent math problems. Good luck.

6/x + 1 - 3/2 = 8/3x + 3
6/x - 8/3x = 3 - 1 + 3/2
(18-8)/3x = 3.5
10/3x = 3.5 (the next step, change 3.5 into improper fraction)
10/3x = 7/2
20/21 = x

x = 20/21
subtract 3 from both sides
6/x-3/2-2=8/3x
multiply both sides by x
6-3x/2-2x=8/3
subtract 6 from both sides and continue computations on the right
-3x/2-2x=8/3-6=8/3-18/3=-10/3
multiply both sides by -1 and make 2x into a fraction over 2
3x/2+4x/2=10/3
add your numerators
7x/2=10/3
multiply both sides by 2/7
x=20/21
you might want to check my math by actually plugging in this value for x in the original equation

I guess your question goes like this:
6/(x + 1) - 3/2 = 8 / (3x + 3)
(12 - 3x - 3) / (2x + 2) = 8 / (3x + 3)
(9 - 3x) / (2x + 2) = 8 / (3x + 3)
THen cross-multiply the two equations:
(9 - 3x) (3x + 3) = 8(2x + 2)
27x + 27 - 9x^2 - 9x = 16x + 6
9x^2 - 2x - 11 = 0
9x^2 - 11x + 9x - 11 = 0
x(9x - 11) + 1(9x - 11) = 0
(9x - 11)(x + 1) = 0
x = 11/9 or x = -1

ok, this is going to be really hard to type out...

6 - 3 = 8
------ ------ = -------
x +1 2 3x +3

6 = 8 - 3
------ -------- --------
x-1 3x+3 2

6 - 8 = -3
------ ------ ---------
x+1 3x+3 2

6 - 8 = -3
------ ------ ---------
x+1 3(x+1) 2

6 - 8/3 = -3
------------ -------
x-1 2

Cross Multiply
2(6 - 8/3) = -3(x-1)

20/3 = -3x + 1

20/3 - 1 = -3x

17/3 = -3x

-17/3 = 3x

-17/9 = x

I think this is it I just hope I read the problem properly

I see it's not coming up properly... just think that there's 1 number over each set of dashes
