"failed to find any directX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system" but my son has been playing on the same game for months !! what can I do to fix it???

the PS3 has more Power if a person wants next gen why not go for the most powerful one i mean if i wanted to just play games at below par why not just stay with the original xbox. the PS3 seems like it has a lot of extra stuff to i mean i spent 400+ for the XBOX 360 and now the are trying to push a HD DVD drive when the PS3 comes stock with bluray with a lot more extra. I am wondering if there is something i a missing on the subject?
