I bought my son the Premium one for xmas 2005
Just after 2 months in March 2006 the damn thing started playing up and not playing the games!! I had to have it sent back and have the hard drive bit replaced.....I was NOT impressed after all the money I spent on it!! Neither was my son, who made the wise decision to put it straight on eBay once it was repaired, luckily he got back the amount I'd paid out on it.
Another thing we weren't impressed about was that early in 2005, microsoft announced the 360 WOULD play the old Xbox games when its launched....however when we got it home, we found it DID NOT play most of the old x box games.....you have to download patches off their web site (a right pellava!!) and then upload them to the xbox in order for it to play SOME of the old X-box games!!!
my son had about 50 X box games, out of which only about 10 would play on it!!
he sold all his games and has since given up on xbox altogether and stuck with playstation.
my advice?.......DON'T GET ONE!!

they answered pretty accurately but let me just say that my son and all my nephews (all 8-9 yrs old) play it easily and so do I in my gaming magazine it actually gave it an A+ while the new PS got a B- I hope this helps. I think it's the best thing out there right now . Plus if you need help there is a call line open 24/7 to help with everything. You can piece it together as you need stuff but you wont have memory if you don't buy that already installed and that means no saved games. So my advice is just to get that to start off with.We have every game out there right now from the ds to the game cube and it beats them all . I have owned one for a year and it even worked after my lovely husband turned it over during play . The game scratched and wouldn't play so they sent us another one free. There are problems with all systems when they first come out , but these have not had to bad of a time and all the bugs are pretty much taken care of. you will have to down load but it takes literally a second to do it.Good luck

It's Greeeeaaaattt. Yes - It plays DVDs and can share a Internet connection with your computer or stand alone. Premium is better as it includes the Hard Drive. Ps2 games don't even compare they look so dull and lack graphics. Games - MotoGp, Godfather,Lost Planet, Gears of War, FEAR and Fight Night 3 just to name a few.

its excellent, plays dvd's and hd dvd's (if you buy the add on) you can buy core or premium and upgrade the bits slowly to the top system.
It pi$$es all over the ps2. Loads of great games GRAW/GRAW2, Gears of War, PGR3, Oblivion, Rainbow Six Vegas, and many more. Loads in the pipeline for release very soon.
Loads of content to download from Xbox marketplace.
Go buy one, its well worth the money.
it is true there were some problems with them in the beginning, but it is IT equipment at the end of the day and it goes wrong from time to time. I found Microsoft customer service to be very good and efficient, the longest I was without mine was 7 days.

Brilliant console. I've had mine for about two months and can't out it down. It's all the little things that I like, MP3 connectivity, Xbox "Dashboard", wireless controller, etc.
And the games so far are great! I'd recommend Gears of War, Tomb Raider Legend, PGR3 and FEAR. All the titles run superbly smoothly and hook it up to an HD TV and it's happy days!

Watchdog run a program on it three weeks ago, they where interviewing people who had them, apparently it was reported that they fail after about six months , all the red light come on, to repair costs a further £85 , it is good while it works but there is no guarantee that it will last twelve months, Microsoft said they where now aware of the problem, but they do not intend to call in those that they have already shipped to shops and sold, so if you back track on watchdog reports, of last month you will be able to read it yourself. BBC.com/ watchdog or something similar

I think you should look at the PS3.
The PS2 is years old and cannot be compared to an XBOX 360.
Also - almost everyone here has experience on an XBOX 360 but little to none on the PS3 as it hasn't yet been sold in the UK.
