Yes, it does help you burn calories. Games like wii sports and Wario Ware are great games for burning calories. I think boxing on the wii sports help you burn the most calories.

Wii Sports' Fitness Test and WarioWare's excercising mode can help you lose weight.
If you can buy some of the weighted wrist bands, that might help you even more. Plus, WarioWare also has a calorie burner: it will tell you how much calories you burn based on how fast you perform the actions.
The best way to lose weight while using the Wii is to never sit down and keep at a constant movement. Move your whole body when you play tennis, and if optional, use weighted wrist bands.

Try Wii Sports but I doubt that you will lose any significant weight. When using the Wii you don't move your entire body and you don't have to run around or anything like that. If you want to lose weight maybe you should try exercising.

well obviously wii sports it also depends however on how you
play the game. You can play the wii simply by flicking your wrist
but doing the actual movements is way more fun. Zelda requires
you to swing your arms to move the sword. Redsteel is more of
a pointng game. (the gun). So overall I think wii sports is the
best option for you

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The control is used as the sword and you have to always move. This game would make you work out.

Warioware is also a good calorie burner, it even has modes that measure how many calories you've burned based on how erratic your movements are. XD
