I was shopping around for some cheaper phone services and stumbled across Skypes web site. Unlimited phone calls for only 30 bucks a yr!! It just seems way too good to be true. If any of you have this service, I would love to hear if it is really that good of a deal or if the service is lousy!

I'm wondering: if I'm visiting the US and planning to spend a couple of months in one city, is there an advantage to having a cellphone number with the area code local to that area? Or does it make no practical difference? Most other countries don't have geographic cellphone numbers...
I've been offered a good deal on a SIM card but its area code is for a city 2000 miles away (and you can't change it).
