The data is different from your voice serive the data allows you to get your email and go on the wireless web all from your phone.

I have to advise you that the unlimited package no matter the carrier is the best and truly the only choice b/c with these phone you can transfer data very quickly and overage would be very scary.

It is an additional cost on top of whatever phone plan you have for voice minutes.

Many cell carriers will not activate a PDA phone without setting up some sort of data plan that allows data transfers. This includes text messaging and the internet.

Verizon will allow you to do a pay by kb plan, a 10MB plan for 24.99 and and unlimted for 40. I do not know about the others, and only know of Verizon's because I set up my Audiovox 6700 yesterday.

It means you probably shouldn't buy one if you don;t know what you are going to do with it.

Seriously though.... A data package allows you to use the internet from your PDA
