I have heard that with the right attachments/software/memory upgrade, e.t.c. that it is possible to get the internet on an apple lisa. Someone even claimed that they actually had an apple lisa with the internet on it. But is it really possible to get the internet on it? I wouldn't think it would be capable of harboring enough memory to get the internet.

I have an IBM computer, about 4 years old, that was previously hooked up in a office with other networked computers. I bought it used, for my home, but there is no place for the telephone cord to plug into -- it is for ethernet -- is there some type of adapter I can buy?? Please help -----

Can anyone save my sanity? Every time I type something on Word the language keeps switching to English U.S. I've tried setting the default to English U.K but it keeps switching back all by itself. I wouldn't mind so much but I'm writing an essay on behaviour and it keep spelling it "behavior". Why is it doing this and how do I fix it.

I have 2 desktops and a laptop. Cable modem, router and a wireless router.

The internet on my main desktop stopped working on Sunday. First, it said "little or no connection". Now, it's telling me that I have a "network cable unplugged." I have checked, and everything is plugged in. Troubleshooting with ISP (cable co.) has not resolved. They thought it could be a hardware or software related issue specific to that p.c.

Any advice before I hire someone to come out? Thanks so much in advance!

If automobile technology were like computers we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics:

1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash...twice a day.

2. Everytime they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.

3. Occasionally your car would die on the interstate for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.

4. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single warning light saying "This Car has Performed an Illegal Operation".

5. The airbag system would ask "Are you sure?" before deploying.

6. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.

7. You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off.

i have no problem listening to music on my computer but when i went to my main volume it give me a massage that read"there are no active mixer devices available" then it told me to install mixer devices
in the control panel by adding hardware but i cant add any hardware

Ok i had previous computer problems before but i solved them but sometimes whenever i close the internet explorer this error pops up i dont understand it: The instruction at "0x66869b97" referenced memory at "0x00000010". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program. I dont understant because i have a 2.13ghz intel core 2 duo and 2gb ram and 160gb hard drive space.

All the anti virus, spykiller, malware removal software appears to use Windows Explorer to run, This crashes, I need to remove a folder and all its files. How please! Thanks Pete,

"One thing which you can do is to start the PC in safe mode, by repeatedly pressing F8 when on the BIOS startup screen (it will either have a logo of your PC / motherboard manufacturer or a count of how much RAM you have).

When pressing F8, you will be presented with a menu. If you're using Windows XP / 2000, choose "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" or, with Windows 9x, choose Safe Mode Command Prompt". etc.

I have booted in safe mode, trying both my user and the Administrator. Unfortunately when I run the command rd /s my user\Shared\Films it still crashes. The folder is a limewire folder Shared\Films. The error message I get is "cmd.exe - Application Error The instruction at 0x7c911e58 referenced memory at 0x2157454e. The memory could not be read".
Any ideas please. Thanks.

I'm a student at a University. I live off campus, but barely, and they offer a free wireless connection to the students with the wireless capabilities. The problem is, from where I am and where the wireless signal is based my connection is very low so i'm very limited as far as online connection. Is there anything i can buy that would more or less magnify the signal so i'm not holding on to the internet by a single thread? The wireless card that i got with this brand new computer is as upgraded as they offer, so I can't upgrade that anymore. Is there anything else i can do? I don't think a router would help because that would have to plug in to the wireless source, which i don't have access to since it's a school signal.
