All the anti virus, spykiller, malware removal software appears to use Windows Explorer to run, This crashes, I need to remove a folder and all its files. How please! Thanks Pete,

"One thing which you can do is to start the PC in safe mode, by repeatedly pressing F8 when on the BIOS startup screen (it will either have a logo of your PC / motherboard manufacturer or a count of how much RAM you have).

When pressing F8, you will be presented with a menu. If you're using Windows XP / 2000, choose "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" or, with Windows 9x, choose Safe Mode Command Prompt". etc.

I have booted in safe mode, trying both my user and the Administrator. Unfortunately when I run the command rd /s my user\Shared\Films it still crashes. The folder is a limewire folder Shared\Films. The error message I get is "cmd.exe - Application Error The instruction at 0x7c911e58 referenced memory at 0x2157454e. The memory could not be read".
Any ideas please. Thanks.

Try a system restore for starts and select a date before that dumass malware you downloaded infected your PC! When are you people gonna catch on to what file sharing is all about?

Boot from the original install disk when given the option select repair select the operating system ( there will probably be only 1) enter admin password.

At the command prompt type, fixmbr, then press enter
then, fixboot, then press enter
then, exit, press enter

Then reboot in safe mode

If all is OK

Click Start / Run.
Then type msconfig, Press enter

Disable all the programs that start with windows then try a re start

Remove the problem files, restart, reset msconfig restart again.

If this solves the problem it might be a good idea to check what other programs start with windows and remove the ones you don't need

Try 'My Computer'. Then get a good anti virus program (Panda free trial), go through a couple of safe mode starts (F8), and clean out your temp file Documents and Settings - yourname folder - Local Settings - Temp
If you like Panda after using it (it deletes files coming via Limewire if infected), you can get the one year update version for $11.00 through http://www.pricewatch.com

Your only option is a complete reinstall. This problem is common when downloading malware and viruses using filesharing programs. Just because the file is described as an MP3 or AVI doesn't mean that it is exactly that. You've got real problems there.
