Internet - February 2007

I had dail-up for a long time, yesterday, I just got Comcast High-speed but the speed of the internet hasnt improved much, I've heard before that the problem can be your computer and not the internet service.....
is there something I can as far as doing a virus search or deleting files or reformatting muy comp. or something that will help speed up the internet??

From the front page in Yahoo if I click on a news story while using IE7 it sends me to a blank page, and I can only view the page if afterwards I hit refresh (sometimes more than once). Why is this happening, and what can I do to resolve it?

with a network this morning someone was asking about my IP address and wanted the rest of another he had partly. is it right that i have had a violation for and had question removed because i want to atleast ask why he was asking about these things if you want to know the question and person involved try this link

My computer has slow connection among other things, I am considering downloading free spyware but don't want to make things worst. Has anyone ever download spyware or ad-ware what are the harm or advantages in doing so? Or should I just play it safe and purchase the software instead?
