Internet - November 2006

I used to be able to create shortcuts on my desktop that would take me to favorite websites. But, now when I try to create a shortcut to a website and put it on my desktop and click on it, a gray window pops up that asks me to "open", "save" or "cancel", as if it were a file. It's not...it's a URL! I'm running Windows 2000 and IE 6.X. Also, Firefox, but I have the same problem with that ISP.

How do you keep the comments from friends bit permantely on view on the page? It keeps disappearing! Can't find any help in the 'help' bit!

can someone clever help me?, i am looking for saved passwords on my computer from previous web entries and i have been told that as i am the main user/administrator for my computer i should be able to retrieve them in the "others file" have been told to look in the control panel but cant find it, can anybody help please, thanks

when i go to look at their profile it only shows the backround only some of them i can look at but still it will take a long while for them to upload how can i fix it???

Is there "spy" software to allow him to do this? Or can he just tell that I have been to Gmail, but not actually read it?

I read somewhere that they can also record your keystrokes to find your password...scary!! Is that true??

I want to download an entire website for viewing offline. The website contains numeour articles and a dozen mp3's. I don't care too much for the mp3's but I want to get all the articles. Although I wound't mind downloading it all, can anyone suggest a free, easy way to do this?

I've installed IE7 many times, but nothing changes at all, even though the installation is said to be a success. I've restarted everytime I installed, so that's not it. Before, my computer also refused to change my homepage, but I was able to change it after I rebooted in safe mode. I'm still stuck with the same browser and services even after installing IE7 about seven times. How can I troubleshoot this?
