when i was in highschool, the teachers could see exactly what was on our screen, in real time, from their computers, thats how they would catch us playing games, so im sure if your boss wanted to he could find out what you were writing

It depends on how your IT department has the network set up, and if they have any extra software / hardware installed on your system.
If you've got to connect to the net through a proxy server (most large companies do this for security), it can record every bit of info that is transfered between you & the host you're connecting to.
If you want real security
1) Don't use work computers, you don't have full control
2) Use encryption software like PGP. this will prevent anyone between you & the servers from reading your e-mail.

Yeah he can tell if you visit Gmail or not. But, he can not access your account except you give him your email address and the password. Or He installed a keylogger on your computer without letting you know. The keylogger is a program that steal your keystrokes on the keyboard and mouse and save it to file or email.

Hello Melissa,
Yes. Most IT departments have their company computers set up so that they can connect to your computer, install software, and do various maintenance function on your computer remotely from there desks, so they can literally see you use your computer, if they want from their computer.
Besides that, there's the spyware that tells them where you are going and even what you're typing. It's some scary stuff. I'm lucky enough to use a Mac at my company, but even then, I bet our IT department is able to see what web sites that I go through the company network going out to the Internet.
I've been trying to stop cruising the Internet as much from work, but I need a 12-step program to stop it. :-D Good luck to you.

You can be (and more than likely are being) monitored. Companies can monitor what you're doing. Even if they don't obtain the passwords to your accts - the IT department can sit and watch your cpu activity without your knowledge. If you work all day - they know it. If you sign into personal email - they know it and can read and see exactly what you see.
Be careful - Big Brother is watching.

Without your email passwords he wouldn't be able to access your mail accounts. Yes, it's true that keystrokes can be traced if you are logging into a system network which then produces login trails which can be deciphered from files created each time you login to and out of the network remotely.

Absolutely. With spy software he can see everything you see... And yes, it records keystrokes so he could get all your passwords and everything you've ever written on Messenger...

yes, if they want to they can. look, as long as you do your work, finish your assignments on time, it's cool they won't say anything to you. just don't go into porno websites or surf the web. and as long as you don't feel weird about them knowing your business.
