Internet - June 2006

My computer is a brand new Dell and obviously there is some setting that I can change.It,s not that big a deal but just rather annoying to have to constantly expand the page every time I open internet explorer.

There are only 3 of us who use this pc and none of us have or would have gone onto sites like this. How can this happen? Could someone be hacking our pc?
Previously I used to wake up and would find Casinos had downloaded stuff overnight to the pc as I would find icons on the desktop. Yet the pc on both occasions is switched off at night.

Suggestions on how this is happening would be appreciated.

I want to add screen name to my yahoo id.. so that I can send IM with different names to different people with same messanger...
please help me for example my Id is will_rock_you11 and when even I send an IM it asks for send as:will_rock_you11..... I just want that there should be more name to send IM....

I suspect that my work place uses a proxy to control what websites and instant messaging programs I can use. Is there any way to connect to this proxy and configure it so that my Yahoo messenger will work? I have tried connecting to the default gateway IP, but that doesn't offer any configuration options.

this program is fire fox how does it compare to internet explorer. Insted of purchasing windows xp at almost 100.00 I can get a linux program that is supposedly as good as xp and it offers everything xp does but the broser would be firefox insted of internet explorer not familar with firefox so thought would ask before purchacing

I want to delete some individual URLs from my Internet Explorer history, cookie files related to these URLs, Internet Explorer cache files, and some search words (i don't want to eliminate them all). I know how to completely clear history. But my history contains useful links, and i dont want lost this information. How i can do this?

Hi,
In my company our network master has blocked yahoo messenger to avoiding employees spend their time in chatrooms.
Now i can't check my offline messages, Is there another way to check offline messages without yahoo messenger or pass this blocking in company ?
