this program is fire fox how does it compare to internet explorer. Insted of purchasing windows xp at almost 100.00 I can get a linux program that is supposedly as good as xp and it offers everything xp does but the broser would be firefox insted of internet explorer not familar with firefox so thought would ask before purchacing

You don't seem familiar with Linux either. It isn't as good as XP, except for the price. Although, Firefox is a good, stable browser.

Firefox is fine - if you already have a PC, download it and check it out (see my sources). 99% of web sites will run fine in Firefox. But there are SOME sites that are designed to run in Internet explorer and will not run or will not run correctly in firefox. Just a sad fact of life. Firefox is MORE SECURE than IE in large part because it doesn't support ActiveX technologies (the technologies that IE supports that allow companies to use the browser to install software).

Linux is fine too... In many ways, it is FAR superior to Windows. But you need to understand it doesn't run Windows programs well. So don't expect games and many other programs to run and don't expect to install them normally. Linux is a totally different system - VERY capable - but totally different. I'd suggest you play around with it a little - download a live distribution and check it out first. Live Distros are available from many sources (again, see my sources).

Go ahead with linux, it very much easy, and the firefox is also looks like internet explorer.
i strongly recommand linux FireFox for you.

you'll need only half an hour to get friendly with firefox and personally i think it's better then internet explorer because of it's extension, you can add small apps for better experience.....give it a try.
