My pc came with 512MB (2-256). After adding a 512MB memory module, my computer said I had 1 gig ram, but ran slower and would freeze. I have 4 dimm slots and tried to rearrange them in every conceivable configuration with no change.
The specs for my computer say:
Memory 512 MB DDR (400 Mhz), dual channel expandable to 4 GB
Memory Technology Four DIMM sockets on the motherboard that support the following:

* 2.5 V (only) DDR SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
* Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction:
Double-sided DIMMS with ×16 organization are not supported.
* 4 GB maximum total addressable system memory.
* Minimum total system memory: 128 MB
* Non-ECC DIMMs
* Serial Presence Detect
* DDR 400 MHz and DDR 333 MHz SDRAM DIMMs
* Support for dual channel memory mode

The new memory is PC3200 DDR-400/333/266.

Any ideas on what I did wrong?

Got a Acer Travelmate C110. I recently bought Vista and made a clean install on my laptop due to language incompatibility issues that did now allow me to made an update so to keep my old files. I succesfully installed vista but now i cant activate my WLAN because the button i used is not responding. Anyone knows a way to activate the wlan by another way? or how to make the button work once again? please need help because i cant acces to the internet in that computer

If there's an obscure song that I think would sound great as a MIDI file, is there an individual or group to whom I could submit it in hopes someone would listen to it and try to create a midi version?

I once tried to use a conversion program to convert a WAV recording of the song to a midi, but I didn't like the results. Part of the problem is that I don't know enough about the vocabulary of music to customize the results with the tools that were available.

Any feedback is welcome even if some would consider it annoyingly obvious.

I'm very enticed by by the entire free-software movement, and I find myself heavily sympathising with it, and wanting to escape from the web of funding monopolies such as Windows and Mac, but I admissibly know incredibly little about it. there are two basic functions that I need a computer to serve - use of IM services, like AIM is my chief concern, along with other things such as web browsing, because my computer is mostly recreational. Also, can it be used for word processing? Is it compatible with MS-Word? Any advice on these questions, or any other tips, concerns, advice, or encouragement on my GNU-transfer would be greatly appreciated. :D
